Collaborations with Universities in New York

Chris Bennett, University Representative

Computer Science & Mathematics Teacher, South Side High School

New York’s colleges and universities are powerful partners in expanding K–12 computer science. Through guest speakers, campus visits, dual-enrollment opportunities, research experiences, and teacher professional learning, these collaborations help students see real pathways into tech and computing careers—while strengthening instruction in our schools. Universities strengthen instruction by supporting teacher training programs and providing ongoing professional learning communities. When higher education and K–12 work together, schools gain both student-facing opportunities and sustainable systems that build teacher capacity and grow equitable CS access statewide.
